Silent Chiropractic Appointment Oakland

Sometimes you need relief from pain. Sometimes you also need relief from conversation.

If you’ve ever put off getting care because the thought of making small talk sounded exhausting, you’re not alone. Whether you’re an introvert, feeling overstimulated, recovering from a long workday, managing a migraine, or your social battery is simply running on empty, you deserve a space where you can just… exist.

That’s why I offer “An Introvert’s Delight” silent chiropractic appointments.

What is a silent chiropractic appointment?

Think of it like the silent haircut appointments that have become increasingly popular. Just as some people enjoy getting their hair cut without feeling obligated to chat, you can choose a chiropractic appointment where the focus is on relaxing and receiving care, not carrying on a conversation. If you’ve been searching for a silent haircut experience, you may appreciate having that same option for your healthcare.

During these visits, we’ll still communicate about anything important for your care. I’ll check in about your comfort, explain what I’m doing when needed, and make sure you’re doing well throughout the treatment. But once we have a plan, you’re welcome to close your eyes, breathe, and enjoy the quiet. No pressure to keep a conversation going. No awkward silence. Just a peaceful treatment focused on helping your body feel better.

Many people leave feeling like they’ve not only had their muscles and joints cared for, but that their nervous system got a chance to recharge too.

When scheduling your appointment, simply let me know you’d like an “Introvert’s Delight” visit, and I’ll be happy to accommodate.

Because sometimes the most restorative treatment includes a little less talking.

This option is popular with introverts, autistic and ADHD individuals, people experiencing sensory overwhelm, migraine sufferers, and anyone who simply prefers a quieter healthcare experience.

Some things I commonly hear from my clients, friends, family members, or other community members:

  • “I hate making small talk during appointments.”
  • “I’m socially exhausted.”
  • “Is it rude if I don’t feel like chatting?”
  • “I’m autistic and conversation during appointments is draining.”
  • “I wish chiropractors offered silent appointments like barbers do”
  • “I have ADHD and talking while trying to relax is difficult.”

The Ultimate Guide to Silent Chiropractic Appointments: What They Are and Who They’re For

Can I book a silent chiropractic appointment?

Absolutely, you may indicate in the booking notes that you would prefer a silent appointment or let me know in person.

Can I tell my chiropractor I don’t want to talk?

Of course! It’s totally ok to just relax and receive treatment without having to answer what you’re doing this weekend, what movies you’ve seen lately, or how your job is going.

Is it rude to ask for one?

Nope, not at all. I’ll never take it personally if you aren’t up for chitty chitty chat chat.

Why some people prefer quiet appointments

Life is stressful enough, full of demands, and full of conversations. Sometimes you just want to tune into your body and have a silent bodywork appointment

Silent appointments for introverts

If you know, you know! I’m an introvert myself and sometimes that social battery is just low low low.

Silent appointments for autistic people

As an AuDHD individual, I understand how draining it can be to have to “people” all the time. Sometimes lowering one demand can allow for a more easeful experience.

Silent appointments for ADHD

That brain is cranking whirlwind-style thinking of new ideas, organizing your thoughts from the day, trying to remember what you said you’d make for dinner, and sometimes it’s overwhelming to feel like you have to make small talk because it’s a social norm.

Can I wear headphones during my appointment?

Yes, we can work around headphones.

Can we still communicate if something hurts?

100%. Silent appointments don’t mean strictly NO TALKING! You’re allowed to communicate your needs and wants and I will still be checking in about treatment. I may ask you things relating to treatment, “How does that feel in your shoulder? Is that pressure OK? Can you scoot down a few inches? Please move your foot against this pressure? And you are welcome to express as much or as little as you want.

What if I change my mind halfway through?

This is your appointment, I’m not going to give you a final grade : )
